A new toy! (Vivitar 500mm)
I've wanted one of these for quite a few years now, and I finally bought one: A mirror lens for on my Canon EOS 20D:
This one is a Vivitar 500mm f8 mirror lens. The diaphragm is fixed, so it'll always be f8. One more pic and a comparison with the Canon 50mm MKII lens after the jump.
To see the quality of the pictures I made a quick and dirty comparison against my Canon 50mm MKII lens.
Yes, the pics were taken through the window. I was too lazy to open the door and go outside. As you can see, the pics from the Vivitar are a bit fuzzy. I blame that on the lack of light. I think I'll just keep it in my bag until I remember it's there on a sunny day and then try this again. It is great for macro photos as well, but here also, sadly, I need more light. I might go and get some lamps from the basement later today and try to post some macro pics from this lens.
